Patient Care Services
Kindred Hospitals use a multidisciplinary team approach to care that helps our patients return to the highest quality of life possible. Our areas of patient care services include:
Advanced Nutrition
When illness or surgery adversely affects a patient’s stomach or digestive system, we administer medication and nutrition through a PICC (peripherally inserted central catheter) or a PEG (percutaneous endoscopic gastrostomy) until the patient recovers.
Direct Admission
For your convenience, our hospital accepts direct admissions from home or Skilled Nursing facilities. The goal of the direct admission program is to have your care transferred from your home or facility to our acute care hospital with a minimum of red tape. You will be in your hospital bed, receiving the quality care you require in as prompt a manner as possible, and to facilitate your return to home or the facility of your choice as soon as you are able.
Brain Injury
Brain injuries can be as sudden as they are devastating. Our interdisciplinary approach to caring for patients with brain injuries includes many aspects of rehabilitation and recovery.
Diagnostic Imaging
Skilled and certified technicians operate our imaging equipment, and we make every effort to perform the testing in as prompt and as comfortable a manner as possible.
Dialysis
Our interdisciplinary team of dialysis specialists includes physicians, nurses, technicians and dietitians who strive to help you meet the challenges of hemodialysis with comfort and dignity, and continue to live a full, active life.
Endoscopy
An endoscope is a flexible, lighted tube that, when inserted into the digestive system, transmits images of the inside of the esophagus, stomach and duodenum, allowing the physician to carefully examine the lining of these organs. Our endoscopy team strives to make you as comfortable as possible before, during and after the procedure.
Pain Management
We feature a variety of treatments designed to ease chronic pain conditions that may result from an accident, infection or sprain.
Palliative Care
Palliative care is designed for patients with active, advanced disease and a short life expectancy. The focus of care is to prevent or relieve symptoms and to do everything possible to improve the patient’s quality of life.
Rehabilitation
The rehabilitation process is designed to help strengthen and restore a patient’s ability to live and work as normally as possible after a disabling injury or illness. Contact us for detailed rehab program information.
Ventilator Weaning
Mechanical ventilation is a life-saving procedure used while a patient recovers from a catastrophic illness. For many, gaining the strength necessary to be weaned from prolonged mechanical ventilation requires that rehabilitation, continued medical treatment and weaning occur together. During this process, an interdisciplinary team works with the patient addressing deficits in motor function, cognition, nutrition and communication.
Wound Care
Chronic slow-to-heal wounds may be caused by diabetes, poor circulation or other medical conditions. Our hospital features state –of-the-art care that addresses nursing, dietary and rehabilitation treatment regimes delivered by an interdisciplinary team.
Physicians
Our medical staff consists of credentialed physicians and allied health professionals with a wide range of specialties, including pulmonology, gastroenterology, neurology, nephrology, general and vascular surgery, plastic surgery, orthopedics, urology, and wound care. The hospital provides an in-house physician from 7 p.m. until 7 a.m. daily to meet patients’ needs after the usual hours of primary physician visits.
Nursing
The department of nursing strives to provide high-quality nursing care. The nursing units are structured to provide advanced care, utilizing an interdisciplinary team approach in the planning and provision of services. Nursing units in the hospital are designated as 2-South, 2-North, 1-North and Intensive Care. An administrative representative from nursing is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
Respiratory Therapists
Respiratory therapy is instrumental in the evaluation, treatment, management and preventive care of patients with cardiopulmonary problems. Our team of licensed and experienced respiratory care practitioners works closely with the medical staff to strive to provide superior care for the complex respiratory and ventilator needs of our patients.
Radiology
The radiology department plays an important role in diagnosing many illnesses. Advanced equipment enables the staff to provide a variety of X-rays, CT scans and other diagnostic services, as ordered by a physician.
Surgical Services
Surgical services are available for patients as needed. If necessary, some patients may be transferred to another facility for specialty procedures.
Laboratory
Operating under the direction of a physician, the laboratory is responsible for conducting any tests that are ordered. Our advanced equipment performs tests accurately and quickly, with results available on the same day whenever possible.
Pharmacy
The hospital pharmacy is under the direction of, and is staffed by, licensed pharmacists. They supervise the preparation of all medications for patients, using the most up-to-date technology. The pharmacy staff is also an integral part of the clinical team and participates in the overall care of our patients. The pharmacy may also provide special dietary supplements for nutritional support. The pharmacy does not function as a retail pharmacy and does not fill outpatient prescriptions.
Food Services and Nutrition Support
The goal of our dietitian is to strive to meet your nutritional needs and ensure that the diets meet the standards as ordered by your physician. The dietitian also performs periodic nutritional assessments and monitors your nutrition plan. Please make the dietitian aware of your food preferences and any food allergies you may have.
Physical Therapy
Our physical therapists are an integral part of your rehabilitation process. Under the direction of your physician, they evaluate, treat and provide rehabilitation for muscular, skeletal, neurological and circulatory diseases.
Occupational Therapy
The work of the occupational therapist helps promote independence in daily living skills such as feeding, bathing, dressing and grooming. The goal we strive toward is to increase your strength, endurance and coordination.
Speech Therapy
When required, a licensed speech and language pathologist provides therapy to improve your speaking and swallowing skills as much as possible.
Case Management
Case managers are available to help you during your hospitalization. If you desire, the social worker will provide counseling for you and your family, make referrals to community agencies and arrange for services or special equipment after discharge from the hospital. The social worker will also coordinate a support group for family members, patients and/or friends of patients as needed.
Chaplain Services
There are chaplains are available to assist you and your family with any needs or concerns. Your minister is also welcome to visit at any time.
